Change day. Waiting for the new crew to come. Because of the Midsummer Mats will take them here in the evening. Also weather changing all the time: rain, sunshine, rain, sunshine, rain, but not too much wind.

This was Pete’s last day here, Pera and Päve will stay longer. Different and unforgettable Midsummer, says Pete. What an occasion to be here and have the privilege to be the first ones to bath in Märket’s sauna we all think.

Boys did some finishing work in the dressing room.

Pera and Päve emptied bio toilets and serviced compost bin. Inside the lighthouse Päve tried to remove paint from the wall of the stairway. You need a lot of patience to do that job.

Towards the evening North wind increased so that landing has to be done in the south harbour near Arctic Terns nest area. They didn’t like it at all. Pete tried to cover him self with an umbrella.

But a helmet and a raincoat was the best smock.
There they come!

Stormy day. We woke up in the sound of rain and thought already in the morning that the wind is hard.

Along the day it got although stronger and stronger. In the afternoon it was highest 17 m/s.

Pera and Eetu continued finishing work in the dressing room.

Heli and Sari learned to tie a proper rope end.

Ilpo is cooking for us this week. Here he’s first dish washing in Märket.

We stared impressed the surfs and of course took a lot of pictures of them.

Suddenly the waves surprised the photographer.

In the evening we warmed up in sauna heat. Our swimming pool had turned to a jacuzzi.

Yet the day had been stormy it ended in sweet sunset.

Bright, sunny and windy morning. After delicious breakfast we started to work outside. Heli and Sari finished the lighthouse window paintings.

Surprise! Suddenly one ”Märket lighthouse” -spider came to look at Sari’s painting. Sari was a little bit scared of the spider, which was quite nice and beautiful after all.

Eetu and Pera using circular saw making a wooden cover for sauna floor.

Ilpo ”the cook” was preparing soup for lunch.

After wonderful lunch we needed to have some siesta time on the rocks. It was so warm. While Sari, Eetu, Heli and Päivi were sleeping, Pera took some photos without our permission. But who has the best style?

Pera grilled for us some great meat for dinner.

Happy faces.

Thursday 26.6.2014

Sunny morning without a cloud at sky. Wind from north 4–7 m/s.

Day was full of window work, sightseeing round the rock, pea soup for sure, swimming, snoring, seals and many tries to get to see beautiful Black Guillemot´s at the door of their apartment.

Working with Märket shop windows.
Water for dishes and other washing.

The weather was so nice and warm.

Having a break in noon at the terrace.
Green pea souping, food is great and belly’s are happy.

Black Guillemot has a nest on the magazine store. We have seen one baby down on the rock, in the sea and flying already.

Today we started to repair the breakwater that protects the lighthouse from north storms.

Our youngsters having a nap

Weather was again very beautiful although the wind was quite cold. But in the shelter from the wind it felt like a real summer. So we eat and did many kinds of little things outside.

A moment in the yard

Yesterday evening we sat all together on the terrace watching the sunset. Tomorrow we will leave this peculiar and beautiful islet in wistful mood. Only Pera will stay, for a third week already.
