Saturday 29.06.2013: All kinds of materials

Our journey to Märket started in Helsinki on friday 28.09. To our surprise the ship did not take the normal route. It used the inner route to Porkkala and after it changed to the outer route which is the normal route. We saw two lighthouses from each side of a big ship.

Rönnskär lighthouse

We had pretty much material with us plus the five radioamateurs from Belgium had their own material, huge amount for a week!

As you can see.

We first helped the radioamateurs to lift their materials up on the gangway, then they helped us to carry the firewoods from the harbour to the yard. Nice.

This is the current group: Taru, Ade, Pera, Lare and Pasi
Previous team have done a great work when they built these building racks. Now it is easy and safe to work further with this projeckt.

The first day is now over and it is a resting time.

Sunday 30.06.2013: A new geocache

This day started at night when radioamateurs made their connections to all over the world.

To this moment they have had over 2000 connections.

To our suprise radioamateurs gave a gift to Finnish lighthouse society at Märket. They had made a model of the Atomium museum in Bruxelles. – Here is the Atomium and the group with their own call-sign t-skirts.

Mats came at 10 o’clock to Märket with 5 visitors, members of our society.

Oh my god, more building materials to Märket. 1225 kg concrete, 9 long and heavy planks and other materials to move from the harbour to the magazine.
Tiiu, Tua, Taija, Sami and Tuovi on the top of the lighthouse: We made a new geocache on te Märket.
After one hour came more visitors with two boats.
Connie, Kenneth, Jean, Rebecka, Timothy, Vida, Marcela, Victor, Leo and Björn.

Monday 1.7.2013: Different kind of jobs

Was nice to wake up when morning was sunny and quite calm. The Belgian radists were still in deep sleep. They seem to have hard nights.

Pasi decided it´s time to clean the water heater´s chimney, first thing in the morning.
It is not a strait forward job, you have to dismount most of the chimney.
Feeding ten people is a full time job and it can be done elsewhere than usual.
Lauri and Pera sorted usable logs from firewood.
Pasi mending one leg of the old treepod used for windmill mast hoisting.
Some final touches still.
In the evening Peter (ON8VP) and Koen (ON4CCP) calling family and own club members from OJ0V i.e. Märket reef temporary station.

Nice day even a bit windy towards the night.

Tuesday 2.7.2013: Casting concrete

Todays main task was to build a new floor to the new sauna. It started in the morning after a good breakfast.

Lare and Pasi checked the inclination of the floor.
Water isolation is now installed.
Steel reinforcement net is on its place.
Concrete mill is asking for food.
Pasi and Pera are casting concrete.
Pasi is finalising the floor-
At end of the day Pera washed the concrete mill.
Here is the result, bravo.
This far radioamateurs have made over 9000 contacts and Michel (ON6QO) is making new one.

Wednesday 03.07.2013: Concrete and logs

First thing in the morning Pasi and Pera lowered the unused concrete to the yard, and after lowering moved it to the storage.

Pasi lowering the wheelbar and the concrete.
Sephyr came at 11:00 and brought 11 visitors to us. Stojan, Minna, Sigrid, Mitko, Hannu, Ulla and Barbro, Göran, Erik, Elis and Kalle came out of the boat.
Pera kept a safety information briefing to them.
The building instructions for the log-built sauna came with Sephyr. Pasi is checking that everything is ok.

A sailing boat with two visitors came rapidly after Mats arrival.

Anki and Bengt, reporter from DagensBåtliv.se on the yard of Märket.

The logs of the sauna had arrived and are now in Eckerö. Mats asked if he can have some help from us to load ”the Logs” to his boat. ”Team P & P” started the journey to Eckerö.

Loading logs in Eckerö
Now Sephyr is heavily loaded with the logs.
Pasi fastened tarpauilin over the logs on the boat.

The story continues to morrow.

Thursday 04.07.2013 Logs, logs, logs and connections

Yesterday ”Team P & P” went to Käringsund to load the logs. After that they came back with heavily loaded Sefyr. All the logs were loaded in or on Sefyr and after loading the journey was quite exiting, waves, wind and load.

Sefyr is floating quite low.

We had to work almost two hours to unload Sefyr and carry all the logs on the cliffs. Belgian radioamateurs helped us. Great thanks to them.

Two piles of the longest logs are on the cliffs.

Today we started working with the logs. We had to carry all of them from the north harbour to the yard. It was not an easy job. Logs were long and heavy. So we solved transportation problem first.

Using the wheelbar is a good idea.
It is not so easy to go on the cliffs with an almost five metres long log.
During transportation Pasi’s trousers got a wound. Pasi had to sew some parts of the trousers.

After we got some long logs on the yard we started assembling. First layer of the logs must be fixed to the basement firmly.

Pasi first drilled four holes for the bolts.
Then we welded the bolts with liquid concrete.

Meanwhile the belgian radioamateurs made their connections all the time round the clock. They have done over 14000 connections for this moment.

Peter (ON8VP), Jean-Pierre (ON5JT) and Philippe (ON4LEM) making connections.

Friday 05.07.2013 Logs, leavings and visitors

This morning started the mounting of the logs finally. We have made work for the basement until now. The cloudy day helped us so that would not be too warm. Lauri, Pasi and Pera fitted the logs to the right places.

First logs are mounted.
The first layer is ready. It must be done very carefully (same level, cross measures)

In the morning two paddlers came from Eckerö. They rested for two hours and made food before continuing paddling to Understen lighthouse. They had a mascot called ”Inka” on the cayak.

Canna, Kristina and Inka
Michel (ON6QO) telling to Taru and Ade about Tintin-museum in Belgium. Thanks to the ladies who made delicious food to 10 persons the whole week. A big task to do.
Koen (ON4CCP), Michel (ON6QO), Jean-Pierre (ON5JT), Peter (ON8VP) and Philippe (ON4LEM) made 16500 connections on this expedition to Märket (notice micky mouse dots M.).

After closing the station OJ0V started dismounting and packing. Radioamateurs have quite lot of materials and equipments with them.

Sefyr got a load on her deck and a merry week is over. Good connections!
We got three late visitors from Eckerö with a sailing boat. Satu, Ayla and Villiam were sailing to Sweden.

Best 73s de OJ0V !

Best regards Ade, Lauri, Pasi, Pera, Taru
