An odd phenomenon in the sky. Why is this halocircle upside down when the sun was under this circle?
Märket is not mist only when one can enjoy cloud, and Circumzenithal arcs too. They are bands of bright prismatic colours that resemble an inverted rainbow. This rare phenomen appears above observer’s head (zenith) as brightest when sun is exactly 22 º above the sun horizon. This scientific result was proven by highly qualified Märket crew. Did we use a sextant, perhaps? Anyway conclusion is an achievement of which everyone can be proud for. Circumzenithal arc is caused by the reflection of sunlight through the same horizontally aligned cirriform ice crystals.
Our catch was two monsterfishes (sculpin, härkäsimppu). Inspite of the ugly look they have beautiful colors. We didn´t eat them. Two brave fishermen going out for a big catch.Mirja has ordered food for the next week. And now she is dreaming of many delicious meals again. Our dockyards lift got a new colour.
