Early bird gets the worm! First boat came with the new crew and four Lighthouse society members already at six o’clock. Then we had two boats with 21 members from Swedish Lighthouse society at ten o’clock.

They intended to see two other lighthouses in addition with Märket and close to us, but the weather was quite challenging. Håkan saved us with perfect translation. Vi tackar dig Håkan!

Sunday 7.6.2015
Sunday started with a beautiful sunshine but windy as usual, 10 m/s.

Arto and Harri started after a good sleep to drill the holes to the frame and protected them with zinc.

There is no better place to plan the weekly menu than this scenery.

Arto was the only one who had courage to climb on the stand. Naturally it was also done by him.

Monday 8.6.2015
Monday started with sun and with northern wind 5m/s.

As you can see, Arto was very strict right from the morning. List was ready: small walk around the island, scratching the paint from the stairs, taring the staves from the terrace etc. We are anxious to get the terrace staves tomorrow, but the wind may cause a surprise. Shall we use rubberboat for unloading Mats’ boat tomorrow?

The original brown should be found from at least 4 paint levels, real work of surgeon!

Our Chef Tarja can continue, meals are so good!
Tomorrow we will have 4 new quests, radioamateurs will arrive early in the morning.
Märket welcomes you!
Tuesday 9.6.2015
North wind 7 m/s , Mats had no chances to land on northern harbour. Thus the rubberboat was taken down to fetch our four radio amateurs from Mats’ boat.

Arto made at least 7 tours with the rubber boat to pick up our visitors from Mats boat. In addition to antenna cables , radio equipments and power supplies we had some staves. To transport these with rubberboat was not an easy task.

We also wished Happy Birthday to Mats, since tomorrow he will have his “25” years. Lycka till Mats, cake went by express rubber boat to Sefyr II.

The radio amateurs started immediately to work, first task was to repair the antenna which winter storms broke last year.

Scaffold were built since the valve from the kitchen wall had to be installed. Check the position!

Wednesday 10.6.2015
Märket woke up with southern wind, 7 m/s. Forecast promised us a nice day.

Finally the ventilation system is ready, hope the kitchen air will be fresher in the future.

Elina made great work by painting the terrace floor in white.

One of the radio amateurs who came to Märket, is making radioamateur history. He communicates by using the moon as a reflector, to return the radio waves back to the Earth. Why moon? By using this method, he is able to have the connection in a longer distance, to the other side of the world.

At this time of the month, the moon rises over the horizon at midnight, and the contacts can be done as long as the moon is over the horizon.
Thursday 11.6.2015
Thursday started with soft wind from the South, 5 m/s, 15 degrees, even breakfast in the terrace was possible today,

This is how it looks ready – the valve, today it was only to uninstall the scaffolds, easier than the installation.
Today’s task was the installation of rotorvent to the chimney tube. it had to be done because the smoke came inside the lighthouse, especially when the wind blows from the wrong side.

.
Jukka OH8MSM offered to help us to install the rotorvent, Arto was more than reliefed. Not an easy task to stay on a scaffold which was build on 18 meters (installation happened 3 meters from the lantern level).
Installation succeded perfectly. Both installer and Märket were happy.

In the evening we had a chance to listen Jussi’s OH6ZZ presentation from his hobby, really interesting!
Friday 12.6.2015
Friday started with sun and wind from the South, 5 m/s .

Today we started the program by yoga asana. At least we thought it was an asana. In any case ,the day started with smile.

Finally we succeded to have our quests from their radios, here they are from the left to the right: Niko OH2GEK, Jussi OH6ZZ, Jukka OH8MSM and Pekka OH2TA. PS.Our Harri is OJ0VM!

Terrace is waiting only the upper staves, then it can be uncorked!

Arto installed plexyglass on showcases.

Bye Bye Märket, we’ll meet again.
Harri, Arto, Elina, Tarja, Teija and Maarit
