140608 New lighthouse keepers at work
Rainy days and mondays always get me down… so luckily this is a rainy Saturday. A wet gray day but still wonderful to be at Märket again.
Oh, what a feeling, working on the ceiling… Totally exhausted but happy with life, especially after a good dinner and a beer. Lots of seals around the island. Hopefully both they and we can enjoy some sunshine on the cliffs tomorrow.

All the best from deputy lighthouse keepers Emelie and Kim Sirkka.
150608 A boatload of building material
Sunday is my day. A wonderful warm sunny Sunday with increasing southern wind. We were a bit tired after having worked hard yesterday on the ceiling arms up, so we took the chance to take a tour with the dinghy to the neighbouring island to check if we could find some seals. Unfortunately none could be spotted, but the birds gave us close attention. After returning to Märket we started with our chores, changing the oil in the generator, mixing concrete to build a small dam etc.

After dinner Ville arrived with a boatload of building material. Because of the high swell and increasing wind we had to bring the material ashore with the dinghy. It took a lot of turns with the boat and a lot of carrying before we had it all neatly stacked in the shed.
That’s all for now from the tired but happy deputy lighthouse keepers

160608 Painting and jogging in the lack of visitors
A lovely monday with more or less same weather as yesterday: sun and southernly wind. Strangely no visitors so the most exciting event was the early morning exhange of lighthousekeeper Kim for lighthousekeeper Tuulikki.
We finished the extremely hard work with painting the red and white ’sticks’, after which Emelie relaxed with a jogging tour on the cliffs. Luckily it hadn’t been raining.

A seal was spotted lying in the sun and we had lots of time to sketch, wite and simply enjoy the priviledge of living and being on this beautiful island.
That’s all for now from Emelie and Tuulikki and greetings from Märket!
